Blacksn0w – Unlock iPhone 3.1.2 Baseband 05.11.07 [ video ]

blacksnowSome Hours ago I only wrote that we’ll soon see GeoHot coming out with Blacksn0w to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 Baseband 05.11.07 and he has finally done it today! He had been working for a while to find an exploit to come up with Blacksn0w to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 and looks like he has finally found it.

Blacksn0w will be released along blackra1n on November 4 which will work on both the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS with 05.11.07 baseband.

The video below clearly shows GeoHot running an unsupported carrier SIM on the iPhone which is on 05.11.07 baseband.

Downgrade iPhone 3G Firmware 3.1 Baseband 05.11.07 to 04.26.08

On every blog I saw lots of complaints regarding problems when unlocking iPhone 3G running firmware 3.1 with ultrasn0w. iPhone 3G users who have upgraded to 3.1 stock from iTunes will get this problem because of the 05.11.07 baseband, which makes it impossible to unlock it with ultrasn0w. The current version of ultrasn0w can only unlock iPhone 3G on firmware 3.1 with older baseband version i.e. 04.26.08. Fortunately, there is a way to downgrade your baseband to 04.26.08 on your iPhone 3G so that you can unlock it with ultrasn0w on firmware 3.1. Here’s step by step instructions:

Downgrade iPhone 3G OS 3.1 with Fuzzyband

Step 1: To downgrade your baseband from 05.11.07 to 04.26.08, you must first jailbreak your iPhone 3G running firmware 3.1 by following the step-by-step guide posted here ( for 2g and for 3g)

Step 2: After you have jailbroken your iPhone, Go to “Cydia” on your iPhone and Search for “Fuzzyband” and then install this application.

Step 3: Start “Fuzzyband” app and touch on “Downgrade” button to downgrade your Baseband from 05.11.07 to 04.26.08.

Downgrade iPhone 3G OS 3.1 with Fuzzyband

Step 4: You should now be able to perfectly unlock your iPhone 3G using the latest version of ultrasn0w .

NOTE: Downgrading of baseband will only work on phones that have the 05.08 (5.8) Bootloader from the factory. If you do not know your bootloader then you can run Fuzzyband and it will report the version number for you.

blacksn0w to Unlock 05.11.07 Baseband on iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware

Good news for them who recently upgraded to iPhone 3.1.x firmware from iTunes! George Hotz (aka geohot) has confirmed in his blog post today that he is working on a tool dubbed blacksn0w, which will ultimately unlock 05.11.07 baseband (modem firmware) on iPhone 3G/3GS running iPhone 3.1.x firmware. He hasn’t given any ETA (estimated time of arrival) for it yet, but judging him from his past work, we can safely assume that it could be out in a few weeks time.

Here is a proof of concept screenshot which shows that he has managed to successfully run arbitrary code on the 05.11.07 baseband.

For those of you who don’t know, geohot is the guy who first unlocked the original iPhone in 2007, and then later he was the first one to provide all-in-one jailbreak solution for iPhone 3.1.2 firmware through his infamous tool, named blackra1n.

If your phone is on 05.11.07 baseband with 05.08 (5.8) Bootloader from factory, then follow our guide here to downgrade your baseband from 05.11.07 to 04.26.08 in order to jailbreak and unlock it on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware.

14 Best iPhone Apps [ Applicattions ]

In this post I am posting 14 Best iphone applications of this year ( 2009 ) such as- Photoshop, Tweetdeck, Skype, Tweetie, Rockband….

Photoshop

This app bears almost no resemblance to the Photoshop we all know and steal love. That’s fine though, because it’s a serviceable photo-editing (on the iPhone, this means filters, cropping, and a few other tricks) app that is free, unlike virtually all of its competition.

Textfree Unlimited

Currently the best alternative to high SMS plan costs, offering free text messaging using Push Notification.

TweetDeck
Our new, favorite Twitter client that takes advantage of the same layout as its desktop counterpart – multiple columns, separation of user groups, and more. (Similar: Tweetie, Twinkle, TwitterFON)

QuickOffice
Edit Word and Excel documents on the go.

Skype
Superb quality Skype-to-Skype over WiFi using the Skype application. Finally be free of your computer and microphone to make those long distance calls. (Similar: Truphone)

Pocket God
Well done, episodic content based on a simple toy of dealing with your islanders. Fun to show off to friends and receive new updates.

Flight Control
Elegantly simple and highly addictive game. You direct various planes to different landing strips, all the while trying to avoid collisions. Updated with Bluetooth device co-op.

Beejive IM 3.0
We mentioned this on last year’s roundup, but it deems reiteration. So far, the best multi-IM service client on the iPhone, now with Push Notification. AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, and more.

Cell Minute Tracker
We prefer Cell Minute Tracker to AT&T’s minute tracker any day. Much simpler, easy to navigate and much faster.

Print and Share
Print files, emails, web pages, contacts, images and even snapshots direct from your camera, straight to your home printer. Simple setup and works perfectly.

Bento
Create simple databases to store information about every aspect of your life.

MotionX Drive GPS
It’s not brand-new, but it’s too good a value not to mention here. $3 a month, or 25 per year is amazing for a turn-by-turn nav app.

Rock Band
Another long-overdue addition to the store, Rock Band, the app, is kind of a jerk: While it was taking foreeever to show up, companies like Tapulous stepped in an made decent rhythm games to fill the void. Now that it’s here, and it looks great—multiple instruments, a decent song list—it’s going to poop on everyone else’s party. It’ll be here in a few weeks, price TBD.

Tweetie
Few people like Twitter as much as Matt, and Matt likes few things as much as Tweetie 2: The $3 app is described as the most polished Twitter app yet, oozing slickness with every swipe. Yet, it’s exploding with new features, and still really fast.

Photoshop App for iPhone – Photoshop.com mobile

There is now a Photoshop app for the iPhone / iPod Touch and it’s called… Photoshop.com Mobile. The best part? It’s free! Free Photoshop?? For the iPhone?? Well, don’t go expecting a full version of Photoshop on your iPhone, it’s a relatively limited and simple image editor, but for quick photo edits on the go, it works just fine and has a nice clean interface. I imagine over time the functionality will increase and I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a feature rich paid option either, but until then here’s what you’ll get with the free iPhone version of Photoshop Mobile:

Image editing features of iPhone Photoshop include:
* Crop, Rotate, Flip
* Adjust Exposure, Saturation, Tint, Black & White
* Simple Filters including Sketch & Soft Focus
* Effects include: Vibrant, Pop (Andy Warhol style), Border, Vignette Blur, Warm Vintage, Rainbow, White Glow, Soft Black & White

iphone photoshop

There are some additional publishing features so that you can easily share and upload images to Photoshop.com after you have signed up for an account, but you’ll need to sign up for that login outside of the app itself which is kind of annoying. Instead of signing up for yet another photo sharing service, I’ll just stick to saving images to my iPhone Photo Gallery so I can share them myself via Flickr or Facebook.

I’ve been playing around with Photoshop on my iPhone 3G and it’s not the quickest app in the world (a friend with an iPhone 3GS reports it’s a lot faster on the 3GS model) but it definitely does what it advertises, and it’s more than adequate for the simple functions it includes.

It’s definitely nice to finally have Photoshop on the iPhone, although I’m not sure if this app warrants the “Adobe Photoshop” name, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction!

Today, BlackRa1n is LIVE and as we promised, we are among the first ones to publish this tutorial on How to Jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2. Thanks to the geohot, a kid made it possible which took Dev Team to figure out in longer time.

IMPORTANT: iPhone 3G and 3GS: DO NOT upgrade to iPhone 3.1.2 yet. if you want to keep your unlock. Upgrading will result in modification of the baseband which will make it almost impossible for you to unlock. Wait for an Unlock.

Also make sure that you run in XP compatibility mode — Right click -> properties “Windows XP Compatibility”. If you don’t do this, you might encounter some iTunes errors. Now, Click make it ra1n

This will take like 30 seconds or max 1 minute, wait for the iPhone to reboot.

Step 3: Your phone is jailbroken, but there is one more thing. In your springboard, you would see a new icon “blackra1n”. Open “blackra1n”, Select Cydia, Icy and install them
