How to Install Android on iPhone

It’s now possible to DualBoot Android on iPhone. Thanks to the work by Linux on the iPhone Project, we are now seeing it running with minor glitches.

Important: Currently it works only with iPhone 2g (original iPhone) but it should soon become pretty easy to port forward to the iPhone 3G. Apparently, The 3GS would take more work.
Instructions – iDroid: Android on your iPhone 2g

Step 1. Jailbreak your iPhone.

Step 2. Unzip and Replace two files (android.img.gz and system.img) in the “prebuilt” directory from this archive.

Step 3. Copy everything from “prebuilt” (i.e. ramdisk.img, system.img, ramdisk.img, userdata.img, cache.img, android.img.gz, and zImage) into “/private/var” on the iPhone using sftp client like Filezilla, or Winscp (windows).

Step 4. Installing OpeniBoot.

Note: This step requires you to have a running Linux. If you happen to be a Windows users, you can use Ubuntu Live CD and boot with it (or use it in Virtualbox). Also, make sure you have “libusb-1.0-0″ installed. If not, get it from Synaptics package manager. (libusb is installed by default on regular installations, not on LIVE CDs)

1. Put your iPhone into recovery Mode ( Turn the device completely off and disconnect it from cable/dock. Hold down the home button. While holding down the home button connect to a computer with a cable or dock. Keep holding down the home button until you see a connect-to-iTunes screen. You are now in recovery mode)
2. Navigate to the directory where you unzipped the tar.gz file and then to “utils” directory. i.e. “iDroid > utils”
3. Copy “loadibec“, “openiboot.img3″ and “oibc” to your home folder. (You can know your home directory using command “cd ~“) and “openiboot.img3” to “utils” directoy of the unzipped files
4. Open Terminal and run “sudo ./loadibec openiboot.img3“. Doing this will show up openiBoot menu on your iPhone.
5. Press the Lock button to select the openiboot console, then press the Home button.
6. Run ”sudo ./oibc“. Terminal should now show the same lines of text that’s displayed on your phone’s screen.
7. Type “install“. Once done, type “reboot” when you see message “Refreshed Image List” (look at the screenshot below)
8. The phone would boot back into openiboot. Select Console with Power button and then hold the Home button for more than two seconds to start booting Android.

Running iPhone OS Again

1. Reboot your iPhone and openiBoot menu would appear again.
2. Press the Lock (Power) button to highlight the Console option.
3. Press and hold the Home button for 2 to 3 seconds. This will boot Android.

Asphalt 5 easily has the best 3D graphics I have seen on an Android phone. The level design is second to none and the accelerometer based controls are spot on. Even If we look at the screenshots and videos, the graphics are outstanding considering the fact that it’s a mobile game. However, if you visit their official website, all you will find is games for iPhone and iPod. But if you want to install Asphalt 5 on your Android smartphone, just go the Android Market and purchase the game. But many users will be disappointed as the game does not have a multiplayer mode. But don’t worry because the single player mode will make you forget about the multiplayer mode. The game play is really good, nice tracks, has a garage of real cars like Audi, Ferrari etc which you have to unlock as you play the game and complete different levels.

In order to play Asphalt 5, you have to buy the game for $6.99 because it’s a premium game and can be downloaded from the Market.

Facebook sweeps Google as most-visited site in US

Facebook has become the most-visited site in the US after beating former title holder Google.Facebook is a social networking website that is operated and privately owned by Facebook, Since September 2006, anyone over the age of 13 with a valid e-mail address (and not residing in one of the countries where it is banned) can become a Facebook user. Users can add friends and send them messages, and update their personal profiles to notify friends about themselves

The popular social networking page toppled the search giant after accounting for 7.07 per cent of all US web traffic compared to Google’s 7.03 per cent, web analysts Hitwise revealed.

“It’s definitely a big moment for Facebook, even though they beat by a small margin,” News.com.au quoted Hitwise’s Matt Tatham as telling CNN.

He added, “People want information from friends they trust, versus the anonymity of a search engine.” The research did not include other Google services such as Gmail and YouTube.

Windows Phone 7 Series Theme for iPhone

A new theme for iPhone has been released, the look of the yet to be released Windows Phone 7 Series. This theme, created by yours truly, is a free download from Cydia, and is available right now for jailbroken iPhone and iPod touch! You can find it under the ModMyi repository.

This theme comes with a background for the lock screen, clear user interface on the lock screen, Windows logo for the slider, Windows lock/unlock sounds, Windows SMS tone, and a Bing background on the Spotlight page. I did not include custom icons because, quite frankly, I don’t like them, but I did include a Photoshop file for anyone who wants to create there own icons for this theme.
